LAUGHTER AND LIGHT

I am saddened by today's events in London. I pray for the many wounded and the families of those who were killed. I pray that this act of violence will not beget even more violence. That's what violence does, it creates a chain reaction. Unfortunately the media assists in the process of escalating violence. Often speculation is made by an official or by a reporter and it is misread by the frightened as the truth.

I wonder what would happen if everyone refused to retaliate if everyone refused to be afraid. When the angel appeared to Mary the first thing she was told is don't be afraid. In Matthews account of the resurrection Mary and Mary M are told not to be afraid. Marks account says don't be alarmed. Jesus did not retaliate Jesus said to turn the other cheek to love those who hate you. How has the American Evangelical/Charismatic/fundamentalists churches so lost the simplicity that they/we encourage fear/encourage violence.
